About Scouting

Scouts are do-ers and give-it-a-goers.

Yes we go camping, hiking, climbing, cycling and canoeing. But we also get to hang out with friends every week, having fun, playing games, working in a team and taking on new challenges.

Every week Scouting gives half a million 4-25 year olds the skills they need for school, college, university, the job interview, that important speech, the tricky challenge, their big dreams: the skills they need for life.

Everyone is welcome here. All genders, races and backgrounds. Regardless of your child’s physical ability there is a Scouting adventure waiting for them to enjoy.

At 9th North Leeds Scout Group we offer Beaver, Cub and Scout sections. Other local Scout Groups may offer: Squirrels (4-5 years); Explorers (14-18 years); Network (18-25 years).

Find out all about us and other local Scout Groups by clicking the links above. Fill out the form and someone will be in touch soon.

Volunteering

Volunteering is not just about giving back - it goes both ways. It improves your wellbeing, gives you skills for the future, and helps you make new friends (and memories).

All of our activities are run by volunteers.

There are lots of ways you can get more involved with Scouts as a parent, carer or family member. From helping out occasionally on a family rota or playing a vital role behind the scenes, to stepping up as a regular helper, or Leader - the volunteering opportunities are as varied as you. (And no, you don’t have to be a Scout a Parent or an outdoor expert to volunteer.)

We are talking tidy-uppers and tea makers, session planners and Zoom navigators, quartermasters and treasurers, and all round team players to support our young people.

The good news is that you shape what you do and the time you have to give. Scouting only happens when a lot of us give a little.

You can expect:

No two weeks are the same, but the impact you can make, will make a huge difference in young people’s lives.

To find out more, speak to one of our Section Leaders or our Group Scout Leader.
