Please save stamps and collect post cards

A team of twenty local volunteers help raise more than £30,000 a year for the Dogs Trust Leeds Centre

It costs £6,000 a year to run each individual kennel at every one of their Centres. The Leeds Centre re-homes more than 1,000 dogs a year

The work of Dogs Trust is excellent. Go and have a look at their centre by the A64 at Woodlands Farm, York Road, Leeds, LS15 4NL

They also require dog walkers, so if you have time please offer. If you are shy of walking dogs my two dogs Gyp and Sam will be pleased to give you lessons any day at 09.00 and 15.30. They are both re-homed dogs from the Dogs Trust and are now quite calm, though that wasn’t the case at first

Through articles published in THE BROADCAST we promise to keep you informed about the work of the Dogs Trust

There are orange collection envelopes in Oakwood Church: at the back of the Sanctuary, in the New Room, and in The Hall entrance lobby - or you can drop them off at 83 North Lane, Leeds LS8 2QW

Thank you

Re Hearing Dogs for Deaf People

Your used stamps helped train these amazing dogs

In September 2018 we learned that Hearing Dogs for Deaf People had stopped collecting stamps as this activity raised less and less money

It came as a great sadness to Martin and Jeanette Shipley because for 26 years they had collected your used stamps

The money raised provided training for dogs that bring more security and friendship to a deaf person. Since 2005, your donations of used stamps have helped support the training of 4 Hearing Dogs and were well on the way to helping train dog number 5

Re Guide Dogs

Your used stamps helped train these amazing dogs

Martin and Jeanette Shipley took over this activity from Mrs Anne Hobson who had collected your stamps to help train Guide Dogs for blind and partially sighted people, for about 10 years

Guide Dogs stopped accepting stamps, because they could raise sufficient funds by other means
