Oakwood Church Leeds

Roundhay St John’s School
Oakwood Church is delighted to have a close relationship with Roundhay St. John’s Church of England VA Primary School on North Lane, and to offer support to the staff and families of the school. There are at least five whole school services held in church each year, and other visits made by classes and groups. The Anglican Vicar and the Methodist Minister visit school weekly to lead the daily Worship Time
Oakwood Church is a union between Roundhay St John's Church of England and Roundhay Methodist Church. Roundhay St John's Parochial Church Council recommends people to the Anglican Diocese to serve as Foundation Governors for the school, and the Anglican Vicar is an ex-officio governor. There has also been close links in the past with the Methodist Church and successive Methodist ministers have also been invited to serve as Foundation Governors
Admissions
Voluntary Aided Schools are able to set their own admissions policy, independent of the local authority. Roundhay St John's School currently includes, as one of several admissions priority categories, the potential for people to be given a reference from Oakwood Church, or from other churches within Churches Together in Roundhay. The school's admissions policy asks that this reference is for a minimum of TWO YEARS, and that it describes whether a family's church attendance is on average monthly, fortnightly or weekly. If you are thinking about seeking such a reference, please contact one of the ministers as soon as possible
